How to Make Whipped Cannabis Coffee
With the holidays and 2020 behind us, we’re ready to hunker down this winter and experiment with our favorite hot beverage: coffee. But what’s better than a nice cup of Joe? A gourmet cup of whipped cannabis coffee. The buzz you get from coffee mixed with CBD (or THC) sounds like something that’s right in our wheelhouse. So we had to head to the kitchen and experiment with some cannabis coffee recipes.
How to Make Whipped Coffee
Since it’s winter and cold in the Northeast, we opted to try our hand at 2020’s viral coffee phenomenon: Dalgona coffee aka whipped coffee. Whipped coffee is easier than it sounds. It’s made just by whipping instant coffee with sugar and water, resulting in a foam that’s poured over milk.
There are a few ways you can infuse your coffee. The first is the simplest—just add a few drops of a CBD or THC tincture.
CBD Coffee
Our go-to for a daytime CBD tincture is oHHo’s Oregon Full Spectrum CBD Oil with notes of pine, cinnamon, and hops. Start with 25ml (12.5mg). If you’re using a higher dose and want a lighter flavor with hints of citrus and chocolate, try their brand new Vermont Full Spectrum CBD Oil. Both oils are great for the daytime and we find that cumulative use boosts our overall wellness.
THC Coffee
For THC tinctures, we love the extra strength tinctures by Theory Wellness. Their 1:1 Extra Strength Tincture contains a whopping 275mg of THC and almost 300mg of CBD. So a little goes a long way. Again, start with 25ml and work your way up.
Water Soluble THC
For this recipe, we decided to use dissolvable cannabinoids because water soluble CBD and THC are often tasteless. We’re long-time fans of Stillwater Brands’ Ripple. It’s a completely tasteless, dissolvable THC powder that’s extremely versatile. Typically, dissolvable cannabinoids also hit you quicker than most cannabis edibles. Since Ripple is water-soluble, the cannabinoid powder can take effect more quickly. The powder is not only absorbed in your mouth, but also in the rest of your body (including your liver) simultaneously. So don’t be surprised if you start feeling the effects after only 30 minutes.
Water Soluble CBD
For water soluble CBD, we’ve recently converted to HOLISTIK CBD powder. We prefer their Recover powder, which also includes 2 more great anti-inflammatories: turmeric and ginger. But you can also choose from their Stress, Digest, or Beauty CBD powders to tailor your infused coffee to your specific needs.
Cannabis Coffee Recipe
Prep time: 10-15 minutes
Serving size: 1
THC/CBD: 10 mg (depending on what type of dissolvable cannabinoid you’re using)
Cannabis Coffee Ingredients
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 1 ½ tbsp sugar
- 1 tspn of THC dissolvable power
- 2 tbsps instant coffee powder
- Milk, to taste
- Ice, to taste
Cannabis Coffee Instructions
Add the hot water, sugar, THC or CBD powder, and instant coffee to a small bowl. We recommend using an electric mixer, but you can hand whisk as well until the mixture is light and fluffy. Fill a glass with a couple of ice cubes and your favorite milk. Spoon a dollop of the whipped mixture over it, stir, and enjoy!
