How did you start your relationship with cannabis?

My relationship with cannabis began when I was 17 years old. I grew up during a time when marijuana was considered a “gateway drug”. My father was a firm believer in this idea. That meant I had to sneak my consumption…and not get caught. When I look back, I realize that I didn’t truly understand cannabis and the power of the plant. Today, my relationship with cannabis has grown into one of loving wellness.

What inspired you to start creating products that get rid of cannabis smell?

My son suffers from sickle cell anemia. He made the decision to begin using cannabis medicinally for his chronic illness. Unfortunately, there are many stereotypes and negative connotations associated with cannabis use. One of them is how it smells. I wanted him, and others who choose to use cannabis for their lifestyle, to be able to indulge without judgment. 

 

Could you explain the science behind how 024’s products work?

024™ is a combination of scent and science. Our products contain NeuAir™ patented scent technology designed to specifically target the odorous chemical compounds in cannabis. The technology works to neutralize the scent of cannabis. It clears the air and makes space for our fragrances to fill the air instead—not to simply sit on top of or mask cannabis smell.

How are 024’s products different from others targeted at eliminating cannabis smell?

Our products don’t rely only on fragrance to reduce cannabis smell. Our scent technology is combined with fragrance, and that sets us apart. We’re also the first to market odor elimination technology in the prestige fragrance category.

How did you come up with the name for your company?

We decided to reverse the number 420, which is synonymous with cannabis. It seemed fitting, since we’re working to reverse the negative connotations associated with cannabis smell.

What’s the best part of having your own company?

The best part of having my own company is the ability to take an idea and bring it to life. I love the creative freedom of it.

What inspires the scents you create for your candles and wax melts?

024™ scents are inspired by travel experiences and food. I love the smells I encounter when I’m traveling. Spices or herbs in a market, flowers while exploring nature, or the complex flavors of a food. To me, they’re all connected to scent inspiration. 

Are there certain scents that work better than others for getting rid of cannabis smell?

It’s less about the scent and more about the technology. The NeuAir™ scent technology is what neutralizes the smell, which allows our fragrances the ability to fill the air instead. Without technology, a scent from any of the olfactive families—whether fresh, woody, or floral—will still just sit on top of the cannabis smell.

Tell us about a scent that’s linked to one of your favorite memories

My favorite scent memories are attached to three women in my life. I remember using each of these scents at different ages because I wanted to smell just like them!

My mother loved Samsara by Guerlain. She wore this perfume religiously.

My grandmother wore White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor. We bought her a gift set of it every year for Christmas.

My sister loved Chantilly by Houbigant perfume. I used to sneak and use it because she never let me.
